Dennis R. Shelden is Associate Professor of the Practice in Design and Computation at MIT’s Department of Architecture, and a founder and Chief Technology Officer of Gehry Technologies, a building industry technology company formed in 2001 by the research and development team of Frank Gehry Partners. He joined Gehry Partners in 1997 and became director of the firm’s computation efforts in 2000, where he was responsible for the management and strategic direction of the firm's technology efforts.
Prior to joining Gehry Partners, he performed structural engineering, energy systems and technology development work at firms including Ove Arup & Partners, Consultants’ Computation Bureau and Cyra Systems. Professor Shelden lectures and conducts research in building industry process advancement and in design computation and cognition.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Design, a Master of Science in Civil and Environmental Engineering, and a Ph. D. in Computation and Architectural Design from MIT.
Dhruba has extensive experience in product management and engineering execution across a broad range of Internet based companies. He is a software and Internet industry veteran and has founded multiple companies with successful exits. He has 20+ years of experience in managing challenges of running and exceeding expectations of global 24x7 IT and software operations in North America, Europe and Asia-Pacific.
Most recently, Kalita served as vice president of engineering at Central Desktop. Prior to that, he was founder and CTO at Foodlink.net, and NetInfo, and chief software architect at Xerox. He has extensive experience in working with startups as well as Fortune 500 companies, including Xerox, Sun, IBM, HP, and Microsoft. Dhruba holds a MS in Engineering from Arizona State University and a BS from Indian Institute of Technology.
Alex Kunz is the VP of Global Services. Trained as a mechanical engineer at Cornell University with a concentration in building architecture, he has worked in the domains of engineering, fabrication, and installation of facades, built-up roofing systems, and reinforced concrete structures for projects such as San Francisco International airport, Heathrow Terminal 5, the retrofit to London’s St. Pancras rail station, industrial factories for Intel and Motorola, and various commercial buildings.
With GT he has worked on cultural, commercial, government and infrastructure projects to improve design and construction performance, and established the European services team in 2007. Areas of expertise include global project delivery systems, advanced design, analysis and collaboration systems, lean construction and production control, and improved integration of design and construction.
